I was just thinking this today. And some phones make you do something to unlock it but won’t even allow you to assign a password. If someone steals your phone, they’re not gonna go “Aw shit I gotta press that key to unlock it, can’t figure it out.”
- Hide what’s on screen from casual view
- Prevent the face from being pressed while in a pocket
- Preserve battery life
- Give an easy way to view the time and taskbar without accessing the rest of the phone
